Planning a campaign

Gemini Films are an independent film company based in the UK. The company wants to promote the opening of its new film ‘In Static’. The genre of the film is a gritty thriller with a BBFC certification of 15. The film will be released in July 2023. The film is expected to generate interest from a variety of TV magazines and review websites because the lead actor is soap star ‘Harry Sparkie’. The narrative is centred on friendship and homelessness. Gemini Films wants to promote the film six months before the release. The trailer is complete. 

6* Develop a social media campaign for the opening of the film ‘In Static’.   

In your campaign you must include the following aspects: 

  • Timescales, milestones and review dates
  • Channels used to reach the audience
  • Content plan



- Gemini Films: The client name will influence what your 'handles' are gonna be called. 

- UK: Tells us who the TA is, Influence visuals.

- New film: Visual content. Trailers, posters, interviews/backstage footage. Insta, TikTok, YouTube. Use features of social media such as Instagram live interview using polls and audience engaging in asking questions.

- In Static: Product name as a teaser, another handle, #'s to start trends, 

- Gritty thriller: Influence visuals. Thriller= greys, blacks, reds. House Style. 

- 15 certificate: Target audience= Insta, TikTok, YouTube (use 3-4 channels) 

- July 2023: 15s off school. You always start your campaign 6 months before release. Use time of year to influence visuals. Competition is Easter: tickets to premier.  

- Harry Sparkie: Any other people involved: #'s, handles, tagging

- TV Magazines and review websites: Interviews with Harry

- Friendship + Homelessness: Partner with a charity to raise awareness. Folksonomy: as many opportunities to get audiences involved with campaign. Audiences design teaser and get to meet harry.

- Trailer is complete: we can use it as part of our campaign.
